Hibiscus hydrolate
Anti-oxidant properties
Hibiscus, a treasure trove of benefits for the skin!
Recognized for its beauty and its sustained colors, hibiscus offers a wealth of benefits for the skin. It moisturizes, nourishes and protects the skin to combat aging.
A force of nature
This flower water is obtained from hibiscus, or hibiscus sabdarriffa, native to Central Africa. It is a perennial plant that has been imported throughout the world. The flowers of this shrub are harvested and the calyx and epicalyx of the blooms are used to obtain what is referred to as “karkade,” otherwise known by the more common term, “hibiscus flower.”
The hibiscus flower and more particularly the red calyx is of particular interest because of its richness in organic acids, minerals, anthocyanins and other phenolic compounds.
A plant with a thousand virtues
Hibiscus flowers are a symbol of beauty and seduction. In tropical countries, they are woven into garlands for wedding ceremonies. Hibiscus is also known for its phenolic and anthocyanin compounds and is used for its antioxidant properties.
